Yellowstone Drive-by and Grand Teton
I had an early start from Bozeman and drove through Yellowstone. I did not spend time stopping at the tourist highlights because I have been to Yellowstone before. I did see elk and bison, but seeing way too many white crosses which indicates a fatality, I decided it was not safe to stop on narrow crowded roads. I did however see many wildflowers in turnouts along the way.
This picture was taken in the early morning hours as I was approaching Yellowstone. The temp was 37 degrees
I was moved by the rawness of the Teton’s beauty; snowed covered harsh edges towering above the pine. They called to mind Gerard Manley Hopkins’ opening words in his poem, God’s Grandeur.
“The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like shining from shook foil; It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil.
More to come of Grand Teton National Park over the next couple of days!
