The Early Bird Gets the Shoot

This morning I woke up before the crack of dawn and tried to shoot the Milky way, but alas I still have some learning to do with night time photography. More opportunities await. However, I did capture some early morning shots. The animals like being out when it is 47 degrees verses 86 degrees by the afternoon.

Since I was out exploring the Grand Tetons at 4:30 a.m., I returned to the campsite at 9:30 and all the campsites were empty. It was quiet with the exception of sandhills calling, geese honking and birds singing. I cooked a late breakfast over the campfire (fire danger is moderate, so we are allowed to have campfires. This was my first campfire since I left because it was cool enough to enjoy it). Now it is time to finish reading, The Great Alone, along the shore of Jackson Lake and maybe take a nap in the hammock, before I venture out again.

This picture was taken on the opposite side of the lake I am camping at.
