Paradise

Some of my American friends with Norwegian heritage might call Norway paradise; however, Zion, actually means paradise. It holds amazing beauty, a deep canyon of red and white rocks with a valley filled with moisture to bring forth green trees and blooming flowers.

We spotted a buck while hiking in the valley but they are a dime a dozen in most parks. More impressive was seeing a western skink which a hiker in front of us pointed out. A ranger identified it for me and said it is rare to spot one. They are a part of the lizard family.

Looking forward to camping at Zion tonight with more hiking tomorrow.

I have traveled 8,318 miles, seen 16 National Parks, visited with friends/family in Montana, Washington and Oregon, shared the journey with Tina, Greta and Eric and I am grateful for it all. I would be hard pressed to say what has been my favorite because each experience holds its own richness, beauty, and excitement. I am thankful for all that has been and all that is yet to be.
