Back to Camping

After a great lunch at Original Joes in the San Francisco area and my shedding a few tears when sending Greta off to the airport and saying goodbye to Pam and Joe, Eric and I headed to Pinnacles National Park.

Pinnacles is one of the smaller National Parks with a short road on the east and west sides of the Park. We hiked about 5 miles on an arid, flat trail. Where our hike ended those who do mountaineering would begin

We had been talking about rattle snakes this morning, but I did not expect a near encounter. Two groups of hikers warned us of the presence of rattlesnakes; however, we did not hear the rattle nor see the snakes. Grateful!

I am glad I will be camping again after 10 days of being pampered; sleeping in a regular bed, delicious food, good wine and fantastic company.

I am also grateful to be traveling with Eric for the next four weeks as we explore the National Parks of California and Utah. I don’t think I would have been able to complete 10 weeks on the road without Tina, Greta and Eric joining me for different stretches. I am so thankful for the time shared with them. Two of the parks we were planning to visit are closed, Kings Canyon (because of flooding from the snow melt that damaged the road) and Death Valley(due to flooding from the recent CA hurricane) We will have to return to CA to accomplish our bucket list of seeing all of the National Parks
